The priest
cannot believe at the scene right in front of his eyes. Right in front of him
is one of the goddesses that are worshipped in the religion of this country.
The belief
that the world is supported by the goddess has been taught on the religion in
this country. The goddess symbolizes everything that exists in this world. The
first is the goddess is Vol who sees everything. Then Val, who acts as a judge.
Lastly, Origin, the mother of all creation.
On other
hand, male God exist to either protecting the Goddess or fighting with the
Goddess. Their existence is close to the Goddess.
The
priest’s eyes are glued on Origin who is one of the revered Goddesses of the
cathedral. Moreover, she is also a spirit. The priest is tempted to inquire
about their relationship. However, at the sight of Rovel and Origin snuggle
close with each other, he is driven by the urge to give them his blessing.
Without
listening to anyone, the priest sees the resolution between the couple and
finally opens the matrimony registration book. He prepares a pen and congratulates both of them. Hence, Rovel and Origin continue the wedding ceremony. Both
of them mutually exchange their vows and sign the marriage registration.
Looking
through the water mirror, the wedding ceremony in this world is pretty much
similar to the one in my previous world. Except for one thing. There is no
exchange rings in the ceremony.
It a
natural matter that I as their daughter who is also an elemental spirit also
wants to give them my blessing. Therefore, I decide to teleport to the church.
Father, mother and the others are surprised by my sudden appearance.
Ellen:
“Esteem Father and Esteem Mother, congratulations!”
While
saying that, I put my hand in the air and start to make a ring.
Ellen:
“Atomic number 78! Platinum! Please give me your left hand.”
As I said
that, both father and mother steadily put forward their left hand.
Ellen:
“The fourth finger from the left hand is directly linked to the heart. It also
represents creation. It also carries the meaning from the bottom of the heart
to protect your companion, love, happiness and the realization of wishes. “
Despite
the surprise of my sudden appearance, both Father and Mother listen to my
explanation attentively. A shiny substance is formed and wraps around the ring
finger of the left hand of the two of them. A single drop of tear fell down on
top of it.
Ellen:
“Atomic number 6! Carbon…turn into diamond!!”
In this
world, I have a cheat ability to manipulate substance element, combine
substance and change the element structure. A finely crafted diamond ring is
made and the size is also adjusted. A wish finally can be put into the ring.
Ellen: “The
diamond signifies the eternal bond, certainty, and purity. With these meanings, may
the Diamond bless the two of you.”
I also
personally add my blessing of good health into the ring and the ring is surrounded
with light. The emitted light is being reflected by the stained glasses on the
church. The light that is reflected turns into beautiful rainbow colors.
Adding into the beauty, the droplets of water sparkle and flutter from the air.
It’s like a blessing from God.
“Aa…What is
this…”
Origin: “Ara,
Older sisters Val and Vol give me their blessing!”
The priest
is startled at Mother’s gleeful words.
The Priest:
“This is the Twin Goddesses…?”
Rovel: “Do
you want to greet them back?”
Origin: “Ufufufu…You are right. I
have to reply with my gratitude.”
The priest and Albert are still amazed
at the casual conversation between Rovel and Origin about the recent situation.
Meanwhile, I also feel more excited because I know those two Goddesses very well.
Ellen: "It's not a Rice Shower, but...!"
Ellen: "It's not a Rice Shower, but...!"
Brilliant
cuts of diamonds scatter upon the newlyweds from the sky in exchange for rice
shower. The scattered diamonds reflect
the light into the rainbow colors that wrap around the two of them. They look very
happy with the spectacular view and then they call me.
As I jump
happily, to join them, Father carries me inside their arms. Therefore, I am
being hugged by the two of them. I smile
in embarrassment as they kiss my cheeks on both sides.
Rovel: “I’m
so happy to get a wonderful blessing from our daughter.”
Origin: “So
am I, Dear.”
After
that, the priest finally concludes the prayer and ends the wedding ceremony.
The Priest:
“The Gods have approved their union. So, from now on, they are husband and
wife!!”
Rovel: “Thank
you Father. As you can see, both my wife and daughter’s circumstances are special.
Consequently, we were not able to perform a wedding ceremony in the human
realm. That’s why…, please keep their identities as a secret. They will be
targeted if they are exposed.”
The priest
nods in agreement with Rovel’s words.
Origin: “Thank
you. I’m so happy that our relationship is also being acknowledged in the human
realm as well.”
Ellen: “I’m
sorry that I make a mess here.”
Inside the
nave of the church, a lot of sparking diamond cuts are scattered around the
passage. I gather all the diamonds with my magical power and hand it over to
the priest.
Ellen: “Here
is for you, Father. If you ever have any problem, please use it as you please.”
After I
hand over the diamonds to the priest, Father also gives him a bag full of gold
coins.
Priest: “Thank
you.”
Then we
leave the church with smiles on our faces. The priest is being left behind
dumbfounded while Albert moves aside to let us leave first. Then he is following
us along from behind. He did this
knowing that he is not supposed to hindrance the pathway of the recently
married couple.
The priest that is being left behind stays still until the day becomes dark. While holding the diamonds and the gold
coins in both hands, tears slowly fall on his cheeks. He is being moved to
tears.
Translator note:
I do some research regarding the rice shower. Apparently, in some countries (not Japan), a rice shower is recognized as a part of wedding traditions. The rice shower symbolizes rain and it is said to be a sign of prosperity, fertility and good luck. This tradition is not commonly practiced anymore. Instead of rice, people throw sparkle papers and so on.

Thanks for the chapter!!!
ReplyDeleteIn America, the normal practice now is to throw bird seed. I attended weddings as a child where we threw rice, but at some point it was determined that birds eating the uncooked rice were getting sick, so people switched to bird seed.
ReplyDeleteThat's interesting. So the birds will also have their own party.
DeleteHere in Brazil the tradition is to throw rice, which is collected after the ceremony.
ReplyDeleteMan, it's interesting to find out about these traditions. Sorry I can't contribute since I'm literally a novice on weddings.
ReplyDeletePeople used to throw rice and still do, but many people stopped because a myth circulated around that birds would eat the rice and then die when it expands in their stomachs.
ReplyDeleteThe tradition goes back to the Roman Empire, where they would throw grains at newlyweds to symbolize fertility/prosperity. (they're literally throwing food on the ground, in olden times it was probably basically like making it rain money). Later the tradition evolved into rice specifically, probably because it was cheap and readily available. Finally, the tradition spread from the European continent to the rest of the world through colonialism, especially in Latin countries that retain more Roman culture than the British Empire did.
Nowadays it's less common in countries like America that used to do it a lot because of the dead birds myth, but that is in fact a myth and rice is just fine to throw. So there's plenty of people who still do it, it mostly depends on the couple getting married and how they plan the wedding.
