CHAPTER 5

Dad Is So Cool

Rovel said that there is one place that he had to go before the reunion. It’s a small church that resides in the town. It's old and deserted. When we open the old door, the rustling sound can be heard. Inside the church, there is only one man who is in the middle of cleaning. There is no one else besides him.

Priest: “Oya…What a surprise…How can I help you?”

The man seems to be a 40 years old priest. The man is holding a broom in his hand and he turns around his head toward us. Then he freezes when he sees Rovel.

Priest: “It can’t be… Rovel the hero?”

Rovell sighs due to the fact that the news about his return has even reached this place. But he still nods and proceeds with his business.

Rovel: “Can I submit a marriage certificate at this church?”

Priest: “…Sure.”

What Rovel’s said just now is too shocking. Alberto who is behind him also makes a startling voice.

Alberto: “Lord Rovel!?”

Rovel: “We did a wedding ceremony in the spirit world. Likewise, I also want to do it here too.”

Priest: “Lord Rovel is already married….!? Then please let me congratulate you. Yes, even though I am just a lower rank priest, but I could write you a marriage certificate. “

Rovel:” That’s really helpful.”

Priest: “But is this really fine with you? My Lord is a noble after all. To do the wedding ceremony here instead of the Cathedral at the capital…?”

Rovel: “There are some circumstances. Please just quickly conclude the marriage ceremony here. I will pay you back handsomely.”

Priest: “R-right now?!”

Rovel: “Yes, quickly.”

Priest: “Yes yes!!”

The priest drops down the broom and rushes quickly inside the inner chamber. After the priest left, Alberto approaches Rovel.

Alberto: ”My Lord, don’t you have a child already? Is it not already too late to get married?! What is this for?”

Rovel: “That’s is exactly how it is. I’m an adopted son-in-law after all.” (translator note: what he means here, he is marrying into Origin’s family and takes after Origin’s family name which means that he does not hold any responsibility toward his birth family but more to his wife's family. This is something that commonly happens if there is no direct heir in the family in Japanese culture.)

Alberto: “Haaaa?!” He is so surprised that he is closing and opening his mouth repeatedly.

Alberto’s astonishment scream makes the priest who is inside the next room surprise that he rushes out and asks what has happened.

Rovel: “Everything is okay. Nothing to worry.”

Later on, the priest carries a big book with him and put it on the top of the main altar.

Priest: “Emm….Lord Rovel, the bride…?”

During the marriage ceremony, both husband and wife have to sign on the big book. This big book contains some magic that is managed by the church. Once the couple sign the book together, they will instantly become acknowledged as husband and wife.

Rovel: “Now, I will summon her.”

Priest: “…yes?”

Looking side glance at Alberto’s amaze face, Rovel is calling out.

Rovel: “Ori, please come. Let’s get married here.”

My mother heard father’s proposal for the wedding ceremony. She has been watching the whole situation through the water mirror.

Origin: “Kyaaaa Roveeelll!!”

Mother looks so happy before she disappears to the church. I once again peek at the water mirror while mumbling ‘Dad is cool’.

Origin appears suddenly with a flash of light and embraces Rovel. Then they are spiritedly spinning around and around in a circle.

Origin: “This is wonderful! To be able to do a wedding ceremony in the human realm as well!!”

Rovel: “It’s not a glamorous wedding ceremony though, will you forgive me?”

Origin: “Of course, Dear.”

After that they kiss. Meanwhile, the priest’s and Alberto’s mouths are opening wide as they see the interaction between them.

Alberto: “Is she a spirit?!”

Rovel:” Yes, she is.”

Origin: “Ara, Long time no see?”

Alberto is surprised to see Origin again. They met each other 10 years ago during the Monster Tempest incident... He notices that Origin is the same spirit who took Rovel to the spirit realm.

Rovel: “Since I exchanged vows with Origin, I also had turned into a half-spirit. It was a spirit wedding after all, so there will be some consequences.”

After Rovel finishes speaking, he turns to the priest.
