Moving Forward

The exploration after defeating the mid-boss was relatively easy. The frequency of horse-man sightings had decreased and the number of times when they called for back up and chased us down are less too. The fire in the downtown might have burned them down. The mid-boss was on a rampage without regard to other horse-men.

Still, it took about one day to get into the boss's room. In the dungeon, the higher the floor, the wider is the floor. Recently, it took about the whole day to explore the dungeon. Rather, it is considered early to get into the boss room in just one day.

Rosalia’s injuries have fully recovered and the other members are in good shape. From now on, compared to the previous bosses, the bosses that we are going to counter are way up on another level.  

We pull the chain to elevate the big and heavy gate. Using the <<Search Enemy>> art, I can sense that the enemies are waiting behind the door.

The moment the gate is open, numerous knight horsemen appear into our sight. There are about 400 of them. They form into an orderly formation and showing their prowess. I knew their numbers in advance from using <<Search Enemy>> art but when I actually see it myself, I feel extremely intimidated.

Behind the horseman knights, there is a horseman standing in the balcony of the castle. The horseman wears a glittering red cloak and ornaments studded with gold and jewels. He seems to be the horseman emperor.

“That is the horseman emperor. “

“Why, is that not their king?” said Neme.

Hmm… How could we bear with Neme’s silly retort? We really have to watch over her.

The horseman emperor puts his right hand near his mouth and starts to whistle.  Afterward, a huge monster appears from the sky due to the sound. The sight of the monster makes me more dispirited.

“Is that a dragon…?”

A deathly red dragon, with sharp fangs and giant wings. No matter how you look at it, it is a first-class dragon that descends from the sky. It is pretty huge. That giant is a dozen times bigger than all of us.   It is large enough to occupy a part of the castle.

The dragon lands below the balcony. The moment it lands, the tiles underneath are broken and parts of the castle get destroyed by its tail. I feel the concept of the level is so absurd. The scale is totally different from the horseman.

The horseman emperor nods with satisfaction at the arrival of the dragon. It jumps over the fence of the balcony and lands on the dragon’s neck.  The horseman emperor sits on a saddle that is tied to the dragon’s neck and swings a spear with a flag attached to it.

To use a dragon like that…

Naturally I try to get a hold of myself.

At the signal of the horseman emperor, the dragon opens wide its mouth.

“<<Shield!>>”

Immediately after Rosalia unleashed the spell, the horseman knights in front of the dragon are blown away.

GRRRRRR! The dragon roars.

Rosalia’s spell blocks the shockwave. It was a close call.

The hordes of horseman knights are scattered and no longer capable to fight as soldiers. But why are they standing right in front of the dragon in the first place? I am amazed by the spectacle. The enemies are careless to this degree.

All of the Arrivers are ready for battle. A huge torrent of magic starts to come from Erin.

“<<Absolute Zero>>”

A ring of blue lights spreads out from her magic staff. The area inside the light blue ring is under Erin’s control. The horseman knights in the surrounding area get frozen. The dragon has already taken off to avoid direct hit but its not fast enough. Its left wing gets frozen from the attack. Perhaps, because the dragon keeps trying to move the frozen wing by force, the wing gets broke from the base. The dragon, as well as the horseman emperor, fall onto the ground.

Erin has prepared the spell since before we challenge the boss. Because we were not in the boss's room yet, it was safe to elaborate more magical power. So, she prepares the spell and shoots as soon as we enter the boss room. This is Erin’s winning strategy. Being attacked seriously by a magician who aims to be number one, the enemies endure serious damage. After this, it’s the end.

Its not as dangerous as the situation with the mid-boss.

“Constant recovery <<High Regenerate>>,

<<Fighter Flag>> raise up

<<All Army assault>> full attack

<< Hug of Guardian God>> Guardian protect

<<Blessed Saints>> Invincible fortress. “

Neme is casting buff spells one after another. Every time she finished a spell, my body is getting hotter. Maybe, from now on, I feel like I can do anything. Even if I don’t have any skill, Neme’s buff spells bust my confident level.

“Jin, leave it to me.” After saying this, Force moves forward. He held a sword in a black sheath, one of the two swords that he usually carries. This is the first time Force uses that sword. In our past exploration, He has only been using a silver sword with white sheath, the ‘Kouhaku’. Using a sword that he does not usually use to fight a high-level boss means that he is serious.

“Neme, if it looks like I become dangerous, it is okay to forcibly cast <<dispel>>.”

I am confused because I cannot understand the meaning of Force’s instruction. Erin approaches me with her magic.

“Note, is this the first time you see Force fighting with Purgatory?

While I repeat that name in my heart, I look back at that sword. Certainly, a sword worth its name. A red blade and black pattern on the handle. It’s so beautiful that even if I don’t know anything about a sword, I will fall in love with it.

Kouhaku was also a beautiful sword, but Purgatory has a different charm. Kouhaku is clear and transparent but the other is the opposite. It is a decadent beauty that cannot be expressed, pure chaos.

Force’s body is burning with black flame as he held Purgatory. His shoulders, back, and arms, are burning. I swallow my breath at the sight. Erin begins explaining to ease my surprise.

“Purgatory is a cursed sword that burns the user with a black flame. It was said that no one has survived after swinging the sword.”

“Isn’t that bad? Then Force…”

“Please rest assure. Force has survived many times with that sword.”

Erin’s absurd reasoning makes me feel disappointed.

“Did you forget about Force’s other skill? He has <<Magic Resistance>> large. Thanks to that skill, he can withstand the fire curse of Purgatory. Neme’s buff spells also help to protect him. “

“I see. There is a way to use a skill like that.”

“Yes. I was surprised when I first heard it. But it was really surprising. Force fighting with Purgatory is an inhuman level.” Erin said while biting her lips.

The phrase is resonated inside my mind. In front of my eyes, Force is launching a verbal attack with Purgatory toward the dragon and starting to yell.

“I’m going, emperor! I have no grudge but I have to defeat you. We are going ahead!"

The black flame still burns Force’s body and continues to erode.

“You may not be able to understand what I’m saying. But I will make you remember that my name is Force Grands. The leader of the Arrivers and the first man in the world who conquers the dungeon!”

Three minutes after he uttered these words, he slaughters the dragon.

This is the first time I feel that Force is so cool! Finally, some serious fight and effort from our team. I cannot wait for the next adventure to go on.
